My Xbox 360 has decided to give up the ghost yet again.
Typically, it was when I was just sitting down to actually make a proper start on some XNA coding.. as my last attempt was cut short due to, unsurprisingly, another red ring of death.
I think I'm cursed, hehe...
No matter, I fixed it last time ( said 360 was bought second-hand, and seeing as it's outside warranty, the big MS were not too happy about replacing it without charging me.. so I had a go! ) which was about a year ago, so I'll have another look at it. Hopefully, the heat sinks just need reseated again, and that'll be it sorted for another year.
I've been working on my portfolio recently, and have decided to choose two games to take forward and finish - Tiny Critters and The Insane Asylum.
Both of which, I've just noticed, have no information up on
stuckieGAMEZ so I'll need to fix that later.
The Insane Asylum originally started as a forum/mud hybrid. You were thrown into an asylum - no idea why, who you were, or how you got there - with the only thing on your mind being to escape, by any means.
After the first few times jumping out the window and plummeting a few hundred feet, people started coming up with all sorts of inventive ways to escape. It was made more interesting due to my adding completely random items into the mix, just for fun and to see how people would react to them.
One person actually carried about an inflatable sheep for quite a while, before finally escaping to live out the rest of their life with said inflatable sheep!
This time, however, I've another plan in store for the Asylum.. that of a verb-driven text adventure that documents your progress like a novel.
It should be interesting, and with any luck, will have players swapping their great escape stories with each other!
Tiny Critters, on the other hand, is an arcade puzzler. You control Wiz, a young wizard who is just learning magic. After coming home for Summer, an evil sorcerer wreaks havoc on Wiz's homeland and scatters all the creatures across the island. Wiz has to guide all the Critters back to where they'll be safe and put right the disorder on the island, before facing off the evil sorcerer to put an end to their terror!
The game is being primarily targeted towards hand-held platforms, specifically the
Pandora, but may make an appearance on PC and Xbox - should I be able to fix mine!
More information will be up on
stuckieGAMEZ when I have time to write it.
Both games I'm hoping to get finished in time for Christmas, but I'm quite well prepared to drop one in favour of concentrating on whichever is progressing the furthest, so that I can make it the best game possible.
Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I've an Xbox to rip open!
